Inaugration 2009

I believe Sam Cooke put it best "It has been a long time coming but I know Change gonna come" and He could not have said it any better. That is the song that plays through my head as I watch the Inaugration 2009 of Barack Obama. To think that 50 years ago that a black man could not even sit in the resturant with white people but today be the President of America. Our parents, grandparents, and ancesters thought they would never see this day but "dreams" do come true. I believe that now and as I looked out at the crowd and saw our people I understand why they were crying because people gave their life in order for this day to happen and now it is here. "Free at Last, Free at Last, and let Freedom ring!!!"

MLK Jr

It seems like today alot of people in the african american culture feel as if the dream has been forgotten and I would have to disagree. I feel it is more an evoloution of a culture than amnesia and I believe that a lot of Martin Luther King Jr Dreams were accomplished for Black People. I also believe that it was a lot of things that were brought into our culture that hurt us as a culture more than it helped us.

Bryon Pitts

After listening to Bryon Pitts give his speech. You felt as if you were listening to a man that wanted to make it and he did and now he was giving you advice on how you could make it also. The advice he was giving was good advice but it is funny because it seems like everyone that makes it has the same advice to give you. "You must be twice as good being the minority" and "Claim your dreams and speak truth into them." Are things you hear a lot of people say who have made it and are trying to help you get there it seems like its a certain path to success and they want to help you get on it.
