Obitituary

I read my Obitituary in class and that was a lot harder than I thought. It was already difficult to write my Obitituary for class, but when I got up and read it in class I got real emotion. The reason I got emotional while reading it was because I was thinking to myself that one day somebody is really going to be reading my Obititiuary and hopefully it will say the same thing that I am reading now. Expect for a few changes because I do not really know my wife's name yet or my childern and I do not know really when I am going to die. I do hope though that I will be able to accomplish my dreams and they will be in my Obitituary that would definetly mean a lot to me.

Camille

It was interesting to see somebody from Central that had graduated and were doing their thing. Working a job for a big time news company and even ending back in his hometown definetly seemed like he got the perfect deal. I liked his story of how he worked hard to get where he was at and doing whatever it took to get there. Pulling cables for ESPN and doing stories for ABC unpaid showed his dedication to being succesful. He seemed like he was a down to earth guy and was serious about his work. As I sat down and listened to Mr. Camille, I began to wonder how many years it would be before I would be able to come back to NCCU and talk to some students about the job world.

The Weather Man

As I walked in the classroom I had forgot that we were supposed to have a speaker that day. I sat down and began to listen to the speaker talk and I realized that he was very articulate and I could tell that he worked on TV. He said that he worked for NBC 17 and that he was their weatherman. He informed me on a lot of things that I did not know while he was speaking, but that I needed to hear. To me the speaker seemed like a humble guy, who was not big headed from his job, and was not caught up in the nostalgia of being on TV. I really respected that about him. He just seemed like a guy that had a dream of being a weatherman and he accomplished that dream; which I also respected about him. I pray that one day that I will be able to speak in a room to people and somebody will write about what I said and one of the things they will say is that he was a man with a dream and he accomplished it. God Bless!

Erica McCrae

As I listened to Erica talk about the things that she was doing and the things that she accomplished it felt good to hear somebody from Central actually accomplishing their dream. I thought she made some very interesting statements while she was talking to the class. One of the things she said that stuck with me was when she said orginally she went to Clark Atlanta University but then transferred to North Carolina Central University. That was interesting to me because orginally I had thought about going to Clark Atlanta University for their Mass Comm program because I had heard such great things about their program. Similar to how people talk about North Carolina Central University Criminal justice program. Erica then stated how it was not a family atmosphere at Clark Atlanta University and how it was basically everyone was on their own. That is when I truly realized how grateful I was that I choose to come here because North Carolina Central University is a family!
